"terroir" has won the Audience Award at the 2020 UNCG Sustainability Film Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. Written and helmed by Dawn Westlake and produced under her Ron de Cana Prods, Inc. shingle, "terroir" explores the mother-child relationship and how it can sometimes unfortunately influence our perceptions of very capable female leaders in all sectors of society. The film was shot on location in Westlake's childhood home in Wheaton, IL USA and in a vineyard in Peru, IL by Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona. Secondary footage was also shot in Vilafranca del Penedes, Spain and Font Romeu, France. Carrizo also did the editing and considerable visual effects work.
An original score was composed and Westlake's voice was coached by GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs.
This is the third award for "terroir" which has also won prizes in festivals in Pune, India and Bogota, Colombia.
